Circa 1890 Ripley-Howland Mfg Co. 10k Gold Rhodolite Garnet and Rose Cut Diamond Navette Ring

$ 995.00

Victorian jewelry is admired for its delicate ornateness and attention to finery, all evident in this ring. This piece was created circa 1890 by Ripley Howland Manufacturing Co from Boston, Massachusetts. It was one of the largest jewelry manufacturers in the state at the time.  We can see why they were so successful, the detail on this late Victorian 10K gold ring is genuinely mesmerizing. It features a central rhodolite garnet, which is particularly sought for its rosy-purple red hue,  and two rose cut diamonds completing the navette shape. The word navette translates to “little ship” which the ring mimics with its wide middle and pointed tapered ends. The stones are claw set which evokes fierceness in the design, but this is balanced out by the soft floral motif on the shoulders. This piece really checks all the boxes one looks for in a Victorian ring.
