1920s Italian Silver Vermeil Filigree Necklace with Fringe

$ 425.00

This Italian silver vermeil filigree necklace is a handwrought work of art. Filigree is derived from the Latin word filum, meaning thread. It is crafted by twisting fine wire tightly to create a rigid pattern; the wire is then twisted into various shapes and soldered to form the complete piece. The real kicker is that this was all done by hand! The graduated hexagonal elements with radiating lace-like filigree patterns invoke images of miniature gothic rose windows, while wirework fringe adds a bit of playful movement to the piece. If you were looking for something different with a unique edge, you found it!
