This rare Victorian pendant is for those old souls and collectors of memories out there. It was created around 1870 and features two photos, an elderly man and woman, framed by dried foliage. The piece was probably very meaningful to the original owner who clearly loved and missed the couple in the photos enough to have this keepsake made. It serves as a little snippet of history; a personal history about the family in the photos, as well as a brief glimpse into the history of the art of mourning. Although we no longer have names to go with the faces adorning this pendant and the piece is no longer with its original family, the sentiment lives on.
Condition
Very Good antique condition with patina consistent with age. There is a black smudge on the front of the pendant, under the glass, from when it was created. (see photos)
Measurements
The pendant measures 1 3/8” in diameter.
