Victorian Fob Charm with 22k Gold Liberty Coin in 14k Frame

While this Victorian era coin fob may literally be dated, the design is absolutely timeless. The 22k gold coin stamped with the year 1900 and depicting Lady Liberty was worth 5 U.S. dollars when it was issued at the turn of the century, but it's worth a bit more now- even if you're accounting for inflation. Christian Gobrecht, the Mint engraver who designed this particular coin was, like many artists of the late 19th–early 20th century, heavily influenced by Neoclassicism, believing that contemporary affectations in the depictions of figures like Liberty might make the image less durable and more easily outdated. In her coronet clearly inscribed "Liberty" and her Helenistic hairstyle, she was meant to be a timeless image and today has proven to be just that. The 14k gold frame makes the perfect housing for this fantastic coin, allowing it to be worn as a fob, pendant, or charm. This frame has a thoughtful ridge edged design to mimic that of the coin inside. The frame has small screws at each end that can be loosened to allow the frame to open up, so that the coin can be adjusted or switched out.
